Better late than never, right?

ok so i know i'm an awful blogger. but if i promise to post lots of pictures am i forgiven?

so where to even begin? its been so long and theres so much to share.
i guess the best place to start at the very beginning, a very good place to start(sound of music anyone?) ok sorry back to topic.

luke's birth story (no gross details i promise)

so at my 35 week check up i was 2 cm dialated. my dr told me he thought i would go another week before i went into labor. yeah! so next week i went in and was still 2 cm (no more progress) my dr again told me probably another week. well the next night i started having bad contractions so we called the on call physician and he told me he wanted me to come in and get checked. by the time we got to the hospital, my pain had subsided and i was pretty sure i wasn't in labor but i still had to get checked out. well false alarm but when they had me hooked up to the fetal monitor, i was having contractions every 5 mins. of course i didn't feel all of them but i was shocked that i was having them so often. so another week went by and still no change. i was starting to get frustrated. i know the baby will come when its ready stuff but i was ready and i thought for sure he was going to come early but it wasn't looking that way. Well the sat following my appt i was at home with j and d was at work. go figure. j and I had just finished lunch and i was getting his shoes on b/c we were going to go to the park. well i kept having to pee like every 5 mins. at first i didn't think anything of it, but after about the 3rd trip to pee i started to wonder if maybe my water had broke. so i called derek to see what he thought and he told me that i should probably call the on call dr to see what they say. so i did. actually when you call, an answering service takes your message and then you wait for the on call dr to call you back. so while waiting for the dr to call, i decided it best to not go to the park, so me and j painted instead :) when the dr called me back which by the way the on call dr was my dr YIPEE! he told me that it definitely sounded like my water had broke and he wanted me to come in! So i called d and he of course left work immediately. i told him it was no hurry because i wasn't hurting so i told him not to rush ( didn't want him getting in any accident b/c he was driving too fast) i then called D's cousin to see if she could come and sit with J. Then J and I went outside to play until everyone got there. K got there to watch J and while she did that I made sure we had everything and tied up some loose ends in the house. D got him, got changed and we headed to the hospital. keep in mind this whole time i wasn't hurting hardly and felt perfectly fine. so fine in fact i was wondering if we were going in for another false alarm.
well we got to the hospital, they wheeled me back and got me checked in and into a room. the nurse checked me and my water had in fact broke. yea no false alarm. i now allowed d to let family know that we were at the hospital. I didn't want him to call anyone until we knew for sure. well about 20 mins after being put in my room, i started hurting. and i mean hurting. dr came in and checked me and i was 6 cm dialated. weird cause thats what i was with j when the dr checked me for the first time. So the nurse called the anesthesiologist to come down. i was in a lot of pain by the time he got there. but i got that epidural and was ready to go. well about 10 mins after my epidural, i told the nurse that i was feeling a lot of pressure. She got a kind of alarmed look on her face, and i said oh no does that mean he's turned around and i'm going to have to have a c-section ( i know it sounds irrational but at the time it made sense and i'm terrified of a c-section)
the nurse said no, it probably means that there's a baby down there ( at the time didn't really register with me what she meant, cause i thought of course theres a baby down there but whatever ) so she said let me check you again. well she checked me and i was ready to push. his head was right there. I was like are you kidding me, lets wait a little longer to make sure the epidural has totally kicked in but they paged my dr in right away and 2 pushes later out he came! trust me it was as easy as it sounds. i'm so thankful that the epidural had just enough time to work, but i felt a whole lot of pressure! when i had J, i was so numb all over that I didn't feel anything and never even knew if i was pushing or not. with L, I definitely felt when i was pushing but it didn't hurt. Didn't even have to have stitches which was great!

baby L was born at 4:30 feb 20 and was 6 lbs. 1 oz and 18 and half inches long.

he was born an hour and half after we got to the hospital! Glad I didn't wait to call the dr or we would have had a home delivery :)
